Abstract
After the evocation of two major problems of nowadays rural China, i.e. the population growth and the pressure on cultivated land, the paper Cakes into consideration the development of the non-agricultural economy thanks to industrialization w selve the manpower surplus in the countryside. The paper tackles the economic, social and ecological consequences of an accelerated industrialization of the Chinese countryside.
