Abstract

This short article presents a personal reflexion on why to become a geographer and why to focus on such or such domain of the discipline. For the author, to answer those questions requires to combine certain experiments of life with a taste for the comprehension of the World which surrounds us. The presented introspective analysis also underlines the demanding character of the profession and stresses how the practice of geography is dependent on its insertion in the social universe.
