Résumé

Un tableau révisé de la "stratigraphie mondiale" pour le Carbonifère est présenté en réaction au tableau de l'IUGS Commission on Stratigraphy (Cowie & Bassett, 1989). Les principes fondamentaux de la classification chronostratigraphique du Carbonifère sont discutés brièvement tant pour la zone paléoéquatoriale que pour les régions tempérées-froides d'Angará et du Gondwana.

Abstract

A revised 'global stratigraphic chart' for the Carboniferous is given as a reaction on the one issued by the IUGS Commission on Stratigraphy (Cowie & Bassett, 1989). The underlying principles of the chronostratigraphic classification of the Carboniferous, both in the palaeoequatorial belt and the temperate to cold Angará and Gondwana regions are briefly discussed.
