Résumé

L'évolution du paysage dans l'Euregio Meuse-Rhin. Vingt-six phases de l'évolution du paysage dans l'Eurégio Meuse-Rhin (constituée par la «Regio Aachen» [Allemagne], le Limbourg méridional hollandais et les provinces belges du Limbourg et de Liège) entre le Cambrien et le Pléistocène ont été illustrées et brièvement commentées. La dérive des continents a joué un rôle important dans cette évolution, non seulement à cause du grand nombre d'implications tectoniques, mais aussi à cause des changements dans le climat régional quand ce petit fragment de la croûte terrestre - en dérive sur le globe - a croisé les zones climatiques existantes entre sa position originale à 70° S au début du Cambrien et sa position actuelle à environ 51° N.

Abstract

The changing landscape in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. Twenty-six phases of the evolution of the landscape in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (consisting of the German «Regio Aachen», Dutch southern Limburg and the Belgian provinces of Limburg and Liège) between the Cambrian and the Pleistocene are illustrated and briefly commented. Continental drift played a major role in this evolution, not only because of the many tectonic implications, but also because of the changes in the regional climate when this part of the crust crossed the climatic belts in between its original position at about 70° S at the beginning of the Cambrian and its present position at about 51° N.
