Abstract

This paper outlines the research that falls under the scope of ‘geographies of consumption’, a field which has been growing within the English-speaking world since the mid-1990s. Indeed, in French-speaking geography, consumption has mainly been analysed through already well-es- tablished thematic approaches (through retail or food geography for instance). On the contrary, the English-speaking geography originally provides theoretical and epistemological thinking on the geographic dimension of consumption, which has led to a new legitimisation and to an original institutionalisation of the geographies of consumption, which can appear as originality for French-speaking researchers.
