Abstract

For the last 25 years, after a long period of negligence, an increased interest has been given to forest and forestry by the public and politicians. The author points out some facts observed at the University of Liege, in Belgium, in Europe and in the world. The multiple uses of forests, an idea born in Europe, is actually well admitted by the foresters themselves. In addition, the author finally proposes a method to evaluate a landscape objectively.
