Abstract

Selected questions in the field of circumstellar material seen in the context of planet formation and evolution that can be addressed with future interferometers, operating in the optical to mid-infrared wavelength range, are discussed in this article.

Corresponding constraints and minimum requirements that have to be met in order to perform these observations are derived.
