Abstract

The petrified axe studied in this paper has been collected at Stolberg near Aachen. While the anatomy has revealed a structure identical with the naked axes of the terminal portions (Hostimella hostimensis) of Asteroxylon elberfeldense Kr. and W., the external morphology is different in bearing lateral organs spirally disposed.

According to this, a new form genus has been created: Stolbergia spiralis of which the affinities are discussed.
